Fully integrated solution stack
The OpenIAM suite has been designed from the ground up by OpenIAM. The architecture also leverages a shared service layer which is used by all components of the suite. This eliminates the need to integrate stack components and the OpenIAM Identity and Access suite can be installed using one installer in minutes. This is not the case with most solutions on the market, which are the result of either a number of acquisitions or a number of open source projects which have been housed under one entity. In these situations, the customer is forced to integrate stack component as part of their deployment and troubleshoot issues in production. OpenIAM provides an Identity and Access Management platform -- it is NOT a point solution meant to solve one specific problem. It is meant to be a platform that will cater to a broad range of needs and will adapt to meet changing business needs.
Mature IAM Platform
OpenIAM is running in production at large corporations with complex business needs. The road to successfully achieve these deployments has resulted in a mature solution that is flexible enough to meet a broad range of complex needs and has passed a number of third party penetration tests to ensure the integrity of the platfrom from a security perspective.
Lower total cost of ownership
A design feature in OpenIAM is to allow extensibility using components that are widely accepted instead of proprietary scripting hacks. OpenIAM uses tools such as Groovy script to implement business rules, GRAILS to create new UI functionality, Activiti for Workflow, Powershell, etc. For the end customer this provides a number of benefits including:
a) Being able to find skilled technical resources readily and at reasonable cost in comparison to the large vendors which use proprietary tools in each of these areas.
b) Greater extensibility and stability - Since these tools have matured through 1000's of implementations there is greater flexibility than proprietary tools.
Ease of Use
OpenIAM offers a single unified Admin console and a single unified selfservice portal for customers to use and manage the IAM suite. The UI has been designed to not be intimidating and allows users who are not security professionals to quickly get started in using OpenIAM.

Based on feedback from our systems integration partners, typical IAM projects have an implementation cost and time that is 30 to 50% less than solutions from the large vendors.
Lower license fees
